I finished the ColorFall Sweater a while ago, and I am so happy that I can finally share the pattern with you.

I started to work on this sweater during the summer when I had an idea to release a collection of patterns in the fall with the main concept: Sustainable makes; Use whatever yarn you have. But, the period after it was super busy, and I didn’t have time to prepare all the designs for the beginning of the season. But the concept still remains.

So, for the ColorFall Sweater, I used some single-color skeins I had from some samples from Katia to test for a project. My daughter picked the color order, and even if I didn’t agree with her initially, I said to go for it because otherwise, she would be disappointed. Not that she remembers, but when I tell her that I used the colors in the order that she suggested, she is so happy. And, anyways, after finishing the sweater, I think she did a great job.

But let’s jump into the pattern and see how we can make this sweater.

MATERIALS

• Yarn: DK weight yarn, size 3
• Crochet Hook:
o 4.5 mm crochet hook
• yarn needle for weaving in ends
• Stitch markers
• Scissors

NOTES ABOUT DESIGN

The ColorFall Sweater has a top-down construction with a round yoke. It has a relaxed fit with a positive ease of about 24 cm around the bust circumference.

The sweater is worked in the round, only on the right side. Along the yoke section, there are several increases according to the needed yoke depth, bust, and sleeve circumference.

The yoke is then divided into sleeves and body. The 3 parts are then worked individually until completing the desired length.

Work a slip stitch in the back loop ribbing on the bottom hem, neckline, and cuffs to finish the sweater.

STITCH PATTERNS AND TECHNIQUES

The main stitch pattern is Vst. For this particular pattern, work the Vst as follows:
(1hdc, 3ch, 1hdc) in the same st or ch-sp
In the foundation ch, work the Vst as follows: *1Vst, skip the next 2sts; *rep, until the end of the round.
Make the increase as follows: (1hdc, 3ch, 1hdc, 3ch, 1hdc) in the same 3ch-sp.
Increase at the beginning of the round; (5ch, 1hdc, 3ch, 1hdc) in the same 3ch-sp.

Slip stitch in the back loop only Ribbing
ch the number of sts required
R1: start in the 2nd st, 1ss in each st. 1ch and turn
R2: 1ssblo in each st. 1ch and turn.

Work the ribbing into the neckline, bottom hem, and sleeves edge. See the instructions on connecting the ribbing rows with the edge in the RIBBING section of the pattern.

PATTERN NOTES

  • Work the piece in the round only on the right side;
  • start each round into the first 3ch-sp; each round starts with (5ch, 1hdc) in the first 3ch-sp, which counts as the first Vst;
  • To close the round, ss into the second chain;
  • starting with R2, the pattern below will not mention how to begin and how to close the round; follow the instruction above;
  • the pattern below is written without color change; for your reference, I worked 4 rounds with each color for the sample;
  • The neckline is measured considering the ribbing; without the ribbing, the neckline is too large; if you don’t want to work the ribbing, consider adjusting the pattern.
