I am so happy that finally this Pistachio Amid Rocks Jacket came out from my hands.

I was trying different stitches and made a lot of swatches with this Scheepjes Chunky Monkey yarn. The Yarn is amazingly soft and beautiful and at first I wanted to make a nice color block sweater, but it turned out that for me this yarn is too thick for a sweater and i chose to make a jacket.

About the design

This Pistachio Amid Rocks Jacket has a simple construction. We are starting working the back panel, then continuing with front panels and then adding the sleeves.

This Jacket has a closer fir, with o positive ease of 3 cm. If you want it a bit larger, just add more stitches on the back panel.

It’s worked almost in one single piece and at the end you will have to sew or to join just the sides, starting with bottom sleeve and ending to the hem side.

An edging is added at the end, all around the jacket, starting from the middle back, front panel bottom, front panel side, neck line, opposite side front panel, opposite side front panel bottom and finishing with the rest of the back. This will be one single edging round and we will make 4 of this or as many as you wish.

Next we will continue from where our yarn is to work the front panel.

Front panel

Row 1

Start the row as usual, but work the linen stitch just in the first:

  • S – 26 sts
  • M – 28 sts
  • L – 30 sts
  • XL – 34 sts

At the end of the row ch 2 and turn.

Repeat row 1 for half number of rows that you had for the back panel:

  1. S – 36 rows
  2. M – 37 rows
  3. L – 38 rows
  4. XL – 39 rows

After completing half of the front panel, change to Steel Grey and continue with the rest number of rows, until you have the same length as for the back panel.

Make the last row in single crochet.

Second front panel (Left one)

First half of the left front panel will be worked in silver grey.

We will start the first row, after we will let some sts for neck line:

  • S – 12 sts
  • M – 16 sts
  • L – 18 sts
  • XL – 18 sts

To the end of the row you should have the same number of sts as for the right front panel.

Work half of the front panel in Steel Grey and then change to Chartreuse and work the other half.

The last row of the left front panel will be worked in single crochet only.

After completing both front panels is time for sleeves.

Sleeves

Use 2 stitch markers to mark the sts/ side rows for the sleeves.

Ley your piece unfolded and count the side rows that we will need for the sleeve, starting from the shoulder. You will have half of the number of side rows for the sleeve on the back panel and half on the front panel:

  • S – 25 sts on each side ( 50 sts for sleeve in total)
  • M – 26 sts on each side ( 52 sts for sleeve in total)
  • L – 29 sts on each side ( 58 sts for sleeve in total)
  • XL – 30 sts on each side ( 60 sts for sleeve in total)

The sleeves are worked in Chartreuse Color

Row 1

Make sure you are working on the right side. Insert the yarn in the first marked side row and ch 1.

Make 1 sc in each side row, marked for the sleeve. Ch 2 and turn.

Row 2

Skip the first sc, 1 sc in next, [ch 1, skip next sc, 1 sc in next]. Repeat the section to the end of the row. Ch 2 and turn.

Row 3

Skip first sc, [1 sc in next ch 1 space, ch 1, skip the next sc]. Repeat the section to the end of the row. Ch 2 and turn.

Next, repeat row 3, until you get to the desired length of the sleeve or until you have in total 39 rows. Finish the sleeve with last row just in single crochet. Fasten off.

Repeat the pattern for the second sleeve.

After finishing both sleeves, it’s time for assembling.

Assembling

To put everything together and the piece starting to look like a jacket, you will have to fold the piece, front panels over back panels and start join the sides.

For assembling I used single crochet stitch, made on the right side with Steel Grey color, but you can sew the piece together if you prefer like this.

You will start from the bottom of the sleeve, to the armpit and then continuing on the side to the hem. Repeat on the other side.

After assembling the Pistachio Amid Rocks Jacket is almost done. We will need only the edge.

Edging

The edge is worked in circular rounds, starting with the middle bottom stitch of the back panel, all around the jacket.

For edging I used Chartreuse Color and single crochet stitch. You might want to use a smaller crochet hook for this, as the single crochet stitch might be a little bit looser then the linen stitch and to avoid your edge to curl.

I made for edging 4 rounds, but if you feel that you want to make more you can do it.

To finish the Pistachio Amid Rocks Jacket, just wave in all ends and you’re done!
