Hello guys!! I hope you all are used with this “stitch of the week” routine and you find it useful.

In this week a stitch that I love very much: A ripple stitch.

I love the look of this stitch on the both sides and is great how with one stitch you can have 2 different project looks.

So, to begin with you need a multiple of 20+1 stitches, meaning 1 “ripple” or wave. Beside those stitches chain 3 more, the chain stitches from the beginning of the row.

Abbreviations:

  • Ch – chain
  • Dc – double crochet
  • BPDc – Back post double crochet
  • St(s) – Stitch(es)
  • Inc – increase (2 dc, ch1, 2 dc in the same stitch)
  • Dec middle – Decrease in the middle of the row ( 1 dc unfinished, skip 1 st, 1 dc unfinished, skip 1 st, 1 dc unfinished, yarn over and pull the yarn trough all the loops from the hook)
  • Dec end – decrease at the end of the row (1 dc unfinished, skip 1 st, 1 dc unfinished, yarn over and pull the yarn trough all loops from the hook).

Now that you made the 20+1 st chain, ch 3 and begin row 1.

Row 1

In the 5th st 1 dc,* 1 dc in the next 7 sts, inc, 1 Dc in the next 7 sts, dec middle. Repeat from * ti the end of the row, ending with a dec end. Ch 3 and turn.

Row 2

Row 2 is similar with row 1, only that instead of Dc we work BPDc.

Ch 3 count as first Dc, in the 3rd st, 1 BPDc, *1 BPDc in the next 7 sts, Inc, 1 BPDc in the next 7 sts, Dec middle ( the same pattern only that you will make BPDc ). Repeat from * to the end of the row end with Dec end.

From row 3, repeat the first 2 rows as long as you want. Now also change the color, this stitch looks great working with more than one color.

Bellow as you know the video tutorial.

There are many versions of this stitch, but this is my favorite.

To begin we will need a chain multiple of 7+5

Row 1

Beginning with the 3rd stitch 1 double crochet in each stitch to the end of the row. Chain 3 and turn.

Row 2

Chain 3 doesn’t count as a first stitch

  • 1 double crochet in the first 2 stitches
  • *chain 7
  • skip 7
  • 1 double crochet in the next 7 stitches.

Repeat from * to the end of the row ending with 1 double crochet in the last 2 stitches. Chain 3 and turn.

Row 3

Repeat row 2. Chain 3 and turn

Row 4

  • 1 double crochet in first stitch
  • 2 double crochet in the second
  • *chain 2
  • 1 double crochet in the 4th stitch from the first row (the 7 stitches behind the chain 7). Make it over the 2 chai 7 from the previous 2 rows.
  • chain 2
  • 2 double crochet in the first double crochet after the butterfly motif.
  • 1 double crochet in the next 5 stitches
  • 2 double crochet in the last double crochet before the butterfly motif.

Repeat from * to the end of the row, ending with 2 double crochet in the stitch before the last one and 1 double crochet in the last stitch. Chain 3 and turn

This ia the base for this stitch and you can repeat this 4 rows as long as you want to finnish your project.

If you want to alternate the butterfly positions fallow the next steps.

Row 5

Repeat row 1

Row 6

To move the butterfly position begin with the set of 7 double crochet so you will have in total 9 double crochet at the beginning of this row.

Then fallow the same pattern ending the row with 9 double crochet in the last 9 stitches.

For the next 2 rows kip the butterfly pattern.

Repeat this 8 rows as long as you wish.

You will find bellow the video tutorial.

This post is for new hookers and not only. Very often we found some things as being ordinary and we forget that for some of us might be useful.

That’s why, even most of you know this trick, today we’ll gone learn how to make an invisible join when we work in circle.

Most of tutorials told us to consider the beginning chain as a stitch, but not in this case. We will ignore completely the “chain 2” from the beginning of the row.

After finishing one row,  join it with the beginning with a slip stitch, but not in the second chain of the beginning chain, but with the first stitch that we’ve made. Then chain 2 as usual and start the new row, but make the first stitch in the same stitch of the beginning chain. Remember the chain 2 doesn’t count as a stitch, so if you have to make an increase you will make 2 stitches beside chain 2.

Seems more difficult in words, that’s why you will find a video bellow with a short tutorial.
