I made a tutorial with the butterfly stitch and I used this stitch to make this beautiful Butterfly Girl Shawl. This shawl is not just an item I made, is a present for a best friend. I name it “Butterfly Girl Shawl” because this is how I call my friend : Butterfly.

So the perfect Butterfly Girl Shawl has to be with butterflies and with purple, her favorite color.

butterfly girl shawl

I used 1 skein of Katia Stella in color 74 (Lilac, green, blue). Is a socks yarn and the recommended needle is 4-5 but the yarn seems thinner and I used a 2 mm crochet hook.

The final measurements of the butterfly girl shawl are:

Width – 135 cm

High – 70 cm

Those measurements are without stretching. After blocking it will be bigger.

Gauge

After 10 rows my butterfly girl shawl was 21 cm width and 10 cm high.

So many times I wished to skip the foundation chain step on my projects. I hate doing that and I’m so glad and happy with this trick: foundation single crochet (or other stitch foundation depending what stitch you need for your project).

Pentru postarea in limba romana, click aici

So today will gone learn to make the foundation single crochet, but it will be other posts with the other stitches foundation.

Is so easy and you will love this trick.

So, let’s begin

Step 1

Chain 2

Step 2

Insert the hook in the first stitch you’ve made, yarn over and pull the yarn trough this stitch. 2 loops on hook.

Step 3

Yarn over and pull the yarn trough the first loop.

Step 4

Yarn over and pull the yarn trough both loops on your hook. First foundation sc is done.

Now let’s see how we go further.

Step 5

Insert the hook trough the “v” stitch at the bottom of the previous stitch you have made, yarn over and pull the yarn trough both loops of that “v”.

Step 6

Yarn over and pull the yarn trough the first loop.

Step 7

Yarn over and pull the yarn trough both loops on your hook.

The second foundation single crochet is done. To continue just repeat the steps that you’ve made for the second stitch.

Bellow you will find a video tutorial that will help you to learn this so quickly

Save this trick for later too.
