In the past few weeks I searched a lot for crochet stitches trying to find interesting but not so hard to make stitches and I found a lot of amazing things. Yesterday I started to search for something more simple for my next project and I found cross stitch. Is an easy to make stitch, only 2 rows repeat, but looks great.

I think the cross stitch is perfect if you want an easy to make but also great looking stitch.
As I said I will use this cross stitch on one of my future pattern (I will say the next pattern but I am not sure which of my current WIPs will be finished first ??). So let’s learn this stitch because it’s worth it.
Abbreviations used in this pattern
- Ch – chain
- St(s) – stitch (es)
- Sc – single crochet
- Dc – double crochet
To begin, chain an even number of stitches, or make a foundation single crochet, also of an even number of stitches.
Row 1 ( skip this row if you began with a foundation single crochet)
Ch 1, 1 sc in each st across, ch 2 and turn.
Row 2
Ch 2 doesn’t count as a first dc, so make 1 dc in the first st, *skip 1 st, 1 dc in the next, 1 dc in the skipped stitch. Repeat from * to the end of the row. Ch 1 and turn.
Row 3
If you started with a foundation ch, repeat row 1, if you started with foundation single crochet make 1 sc in each stitch across.
Repeat row 2 and 3 as long as you want, until you’ll finish your project.
You can also can make the cross stitch, without the single crochet rows in between, but I like it most like this. Feel free to try both and see which you like more.
This stitch has another advantage, beside that is so easy to make: you can use any type of yarn and it will look great.
