In this week will gone learn to crochet the Ripple Shell Stitch.

I love the look of this stitch and you will see that is not so complicated.

Abbreviation

  • Ch – chain
  • Sc – single crochet
  • Dc – double crochet
  • St(s) – stitch(es)
  • Shell – 9 dc in the same stitch
  • sc2 tog – decrease single crochet
  • ScDctog – decrease with 1 sc and 1 dc

To begin, chain multiple of 40 + 4

I wrote this pattern for 84 stitches and following this pattern you will be able to make any length.

Row 1

Begin with the second st from the hook

  • [1 sc, skip 3 sts, shell in the next] – repeat 2 times.
  • shell (in the next st after last skip 3), ch 1, shell in next st, skip 3 sts
  • [1 sc, skip 3 sts, shell in the next] – repeat 4 times
  • shell (in the next st after last skip 3), ch 1, shell in next st, skip 3 sts
  • [1 sc, skip 3 sts, shell in the next] – repeat 2 times
  • Ending the row with 1 sc in the last st.

Before second row, change the color.

Row 2

  • Ch 4, 1 sc in the 4th dc from the first shell, 1 sc in the next dc, ch 1, [1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc] in the sc st from the previous row, ch 1
  • 1 sc in the 4th, 5th and 6th sts from the next shell, ch 1
  • [1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc] in the sc st from the previous row, ch 1
  • 1 sc in the 4th, 5th and 6th sts from the next shell, ch
  • [1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc, ch 1] – in the ch 1 space between the 2 shells that form first corner.
  • *1 sc in the 4th, 5th and 6th sts from the next shell, ch 1
  • [1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc] in the sc st from the previous row, ch 1*
  • Repeat from * to * 2 times
  • In the 4th st from the next shell and the 5th from the next one, sc2tog. In this way we will make the down corner if our ripple.1 sc in the next st, ch 1
  • *[1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc] in the sc st from the previous row, ch 1
  • 1 sc in the 4th, 5th and 6th sts from the next shell, ch 1*
  • Repeat from * to * 2 times.
  • [1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc, ch 1] – in the ch 1 space between the 2 shells that form the second corner.
  • *1 sc in the 4th, 5th and 6th sts from the next shell, ch 1
  • [1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc] in the sc st from the previous row, ch 1*
  • Repeat from * to *  2 times.
  • End the row with ScDctog in the 5th st of the last shell and the last sc.
  • change the color.

Row 3

On row 3 we will repeat the first row, only that we will make the shells in the ch1 space between the 2 dc that we have made in the sc st from the previous row. The sc we will make it the second sc from the previous row.

Repeat row 2 and 3 as long as you want.

  1. What is the approximate width of the sample from your demonstration?

      Approximate 20 cm. Sorry I can’t measure the sample to give you the exact width because I am on vacation. But as far as I remember this was the width.
